Since we seem to be in shameless plug mode here:

http://spring.clan-sy.com
GPL open source RTS...It was originally designed to run content from TA (Total Annihilation), but now has many mods for various diverse forms of gameplay:
-Many TA mods, such as XTA, BA, BOTA, LLTA, KuroTA, and NOTA
-Expand and Exterminate, a GPL mod based on the Earth 21xx games
-Gundam RTS, an rts based on the Gundam anime.
-Spring 1944, a WW2 rts mod.

And many many others :)

1. Buy Indie Games

I'd like to share with you a little of my insight from the Indie perspective. Since releasing Cavemen two weeks ago (shameless plug http://www.lightworksgames.com/cavemen) we've officially become an indie studio. I find myself checking the download numbers every hour. And although the sales aren't phenomenal, I find that with every sale I get a new rush of excitement to improve Cavemen.

See, for an indie team the game is a lot of (fun) hard work and personal effort. When you show your appreciation by proving that the game is actually worth your hard earned money, I feel a sense of graditude and want to make sure you get more than what you expected. That's exactly why we're working on Cavemen 1.1 which will add more levels and a host of other features to the game, available for free to all existing customers.

The moral is, the more you show your appreciation for indie games, the harder the indie teams will work to make sure you get a great experience.
